Creating a Collective Vision for the next DCPS Chancellor

Friend:

If you weren't, you should have been in the room last night.

Parents, principals, teachers, students, civil leaders, youth advocates and concerned residents of Ward 8 showed up and lent their voice to our collective vision for the next leader of DC Public Schools.

Thanks to the Ward 8 Education Council for helping to make this insightful and representative meeting happen and to Councilmember Trayon White for joining us and listening to every hope for our next Chancellor.

I truly believe that the children and families of Ward 8 have the most to gain if we lean into this process and speak with one voice. While we showed up last night, there’s still more of us that need to be heard and much more work to do to make our collective vision a reality.

So here’s what we need to do:

  1. Go to bit.ly/ward8survey and take our Ward 8 Chancellor Selection Survey.

  2. In the section that asks if you’re willing to take action with us, say yes! And then leave your email on the form.

  3. Once we collect your feedback, we’ll compile our vision into a report that we’ll send to you, Mayor Bowser and the Our Schools DC committee, the members of the Council and of the State Board.

  4. Then, we’ll keep in touch! We’ll need your support to help us advocate to the Mayor and the Council to ensure our next Chancellor embodies our values and is responsive to our voices.

Thanks for choosing to #BelieveIn8.
