At the beginning of this month, the State Board announced the formation of a task force on High School Graduation Requirements.
With a clear focus on ensuring that all students across the District succeed in college and career, this task force will review, analyze and, as necessary, make thoughtful, implementable recommendations to adjust DC’s high school graduation requirements for all DCPS and public charter students.
Co-chaired by Ward 1 Representative Laura Wilson Phelan and myself, we spent the last month pulling together a diverse and highly representative group of residents, committing that at least half the members would live or work east of the Anacostia River (where close to half of our school-aged children live). On June 30th, we announced the 26 residents selected to lead this work. Learn more about this exceptional group of Washingtonians.
